Why the Philippines? Would they throw Imelda's shoes at me?

Market teetering here. Very much lower on the banks or a reversal of today's action in the bond and it could provide a nice wing clipping intra-day.

That's precisely why I dropped my AMEX. 20 years as a card holder and five as a stockholder when they decided to pull the plug on my account when I was in Mexico for 45 days. Unfortunately, I left no one at home to intercept the mail and pay the bills.. AMEX stopped my card on the 16th day! What a pleasant surprise (not).

We were with clients when the refusals started coming first at dinner, then in a shop, and finally at a hotel. The whole time I was chalking it up to the lousy local phone connection.

I made the switch then to VISA gold and haven't had a problem since.. never paid a card fee or a finance charge, either. (Can you tell, I still carry a grudge) g
