I'm sure that's a good idea as legal action gets expensive fast. I'm just glad to see S3 come back to life.

People seem to be rather impressed with savage. As short as the product cycle is should one anticipate design wins right away?

Hey, Frank. Seems to me this is similar to CSUS vs S3 in that if an arrangement wasn't made that a lawsuit would ensue. What did this action just cost S3? A couple of grand? They get the attention of nVidia, SGI, Nine, and let's see......who else is out there??? Oh, yes! Maybe ATI! Like you say, I don't think they want to go to court. Just get into some licensing deals. Then, every Voodoo2, every Rage, every Riva sold is more pennies into S3's pocket.

George!!! Who are you gonna sic Gloria on? And who IS Gloria? This isn't that attack bunny you got for your kids on Easter is it?

BTW, do you have any crows lying around in the back yard? Not for you!! For those on this thread that have been telling us, "Your only hope now is for S3 to get bought out.", or "Your only hope now is to get some pennies on the dollar from the lawsuits." My favorite experts..

My 2 cents.

The Nvidea suit accomplishes numerous objectives.

They are small and (relatively speaking) inexpensive to sue.

The suit will also stunt their forward progress if it does not
freeze them in their tracks temporarily. It gains valuable time for S3.

It serves notice on the others.

If indeed there are discussions going on it will tell them S3 may resort
to a suit to get what they want.

I think all in all a good move.

I do not think it would translate in bucks per share based on what may occur
but the net effect IMO is a precious gain of time and potentially
market share.
