Rick:

Given that Pfizer was the first to sign up back in '93 and given that drug devo usually takes 10-15 years, I would expect in the 2003-2008 time frame that revenues should pick up. At the annual meeting last year, after the usual forward looking statement qualifications, Roy Whitfield projected that fully 1/3 of Pharmaceutical products introduced to market between 2005 and 2010 will be paying royalties to INCY. Now, while prognosticating the future isn't a science (except for the Psychic Friend's Network et. al.), I can think of no public predictions/statements of this nature that Roy has missed on yet. The guy has a hard and fast rule about not creating expectations that you cannot fulfill or better yet surpass.

Cute link. Should we be buying stock in Ortho Pharma (who owns them J&J???) to take advantage of increased sales of K-Y Jelly too? Already a big seller in the Bay Area........

I've got a copy of some articles from the May issue of Discover where Venter is ranting about investors. This is a banner quote that spreads across two pages:

"I would have my institute, and the investors promised they would file patents only on a limited number of genes. Later I learned that investors lie."

Haven't read the article yet though, it looks pretty entertaining.

Later,

Dave

PS: when's beers?

<<<<<<<<<
CHICAGO, May 12 - Vector Securities International on Tuesday upgraded to buy from attractive its rating for Incyte Pharmaceuticals Inc. based
on strong fundamentals and a weak stock price.

The share price of Incyte had fallen earlier today on competitive concerns after a report that Perkin-Elmer Corp. (PKN - news) was entering a venture to
accelerate a project to fully map human DNA, Vector said in a research note.

Incyte is a biotech company that designs and markets genomic database products for use in drug development.

Incyte stock was trading up 1-12/16 to 35-1/16.
