I agree entirely. I think that dismissing the importance of the installed base on the basis that "computers purchased in the last five years will need to be replaced in order to access new software and communications speeds" -- quoting Mr. Collins' statement of three months ago -- might be a bit blithe. I can see placing primary emphasis on OEM deals, as they will permanently embed the WaveMeter in the PC -- inside the box, on the motherboard, or maybe even in the CPU chipset. But I also favor proliferation for proliferation's sake. And I think there are people whose computing and telecomputing needs for the foreseeable future will continue to be served quite adequately by the motherboards they bought in 1995.
