Thanks for the kind words Lee.

It's very interesting that we discuss this. I mentioned in an earlier post to LT that I've been holding T and its spinoffs a long time, but owing to DRIPS it was too difficult for me to calculate the rate of return. Well, in today"s NY Times there is an article that says that shares that closed at $61.50 in 1983 are worth $755 today (which includes dividend reinvestments, spinoffs and mergers). If you care to do the math that works out to 19.62% per annum!

Dell it isn't, but still not too shabby. And that period includes several bear markets (the ordinary investors reckon -- not LT who believes that the last bear market we had was in 1938).

So call me greedy! <VBG>

I too am sick of the word "greed". Its wonderful to be able to make gains, and wanting more gains is sensible and realistic. It isnt greed to want things for yourself and your loved ones. (Greed is what the government does-steal from us at gunpoint/jailthreats to feed ever increasing govt programs.)
I agree on the long term holding. I have had so little success with my short term attempts to make money, which are actually attempts to "time". Long term on great companies works, and is peaceful too.

But I'll probably try a few more times anyway to do short term trades until I get sick of the stress and the losses.
