CheckFree Signs Three-Year Extension with EVEREN Securities Inc. to Provide Portfolio Accounting ATLANTA (May 11, 1998) - CheckFree (NASDAQ: CKFR) today announced a three-year contract extension with Chicago-based EVEREN Securities Inc. Through the agreement, CheckFree's Investment Services division will continue to provide portfolio accounting services for EVEREN's Asset Management Group, which includes the firm's "Masters Program." CheckFree's APL WRAP service provides EVEREN with interface data links that allow for back-office posting, account tracking and trade automation. In addition, it provides EVEREN's managers and brokers with access to enhanced reporting and trading system features, including real-time portfolio information with updated performance measurement and tax lot data. "We are pleased to have EVEREN re-signed for another three years," said John Humm, vice president of CheckFree Investment Services. "We see this as a solid commitment to the type of specialized in-house service we have provided over the years. We now are in a position to expand that service as part of this new agreement."
