Duncan, I edited my message after you read it the first time. It occurred to me that an article I read about the effects of GLOBAL WARMING in California would be a very appropriate way to end it. Have you been reading the Economist or something? All the stuff I read indicates people have a LOT to do with global warming, and can do much to prevent it. I do agree that the militia movement could be put to much more productive use by culling the deer population in Connecticut or wherever you are. But aren't there experiments with birth control for them instead? I am sure you know that vegetarians and animal lovers think deer are even cuter than sweet fluffy bunnies!!!

Zoltan, Global warming and ice ages are not as far apart as you think. An average increase in global temperatures evaporates a lot more ocean water. If this excess precipitation occurs as snow, an ice age could be triggered as more sunlight is reflected back into space, creating a domino effect where there is not enough warmth in the Summer to melt all of the snow. What we are seeing is extreme swings in temperature and precipitation. What is causing it is not certain, but the consensus among scientists its that we are causing at least some of it. It is important to know the answer, and we need to study the issue further, but I think that it would be wise to start doing something now. Greenland was not green when the Vikings settled there. The ice sheets are very thick and hundreds of thousands of years old. Del
