You can bet the LU financial gnomes have got beaucoup
spreadsheets balancing the dollar value of time against
lots of expected scenarios ...

Also, I am reminded of the human factor ... LU/CSCO parted
company on that basis, so they say.

Some companies are fairly culture-nonspecific, some companies
are culture-specific, they need a certain style of interaction.

I have no insight into how LU interfaces to either BAY or ASND
based on "culture" factors ... but I'm willing to bet that LU
or CSCO walked away from the biggest strategic hookup in telecom
history based on some exec or execs just reaching the end of
their people-comm rope more or less abruptly.

Sure, sure, spreadsheets, sure, sure technology ... but all this
is for nought if you can't keep the relevant people in the same
room without flames.

And, while CSCO is not fitting into the rumors now, it's we still
have a lot of industry-time before October. Make a picture of LUCSO
... that would snap a lot of fuzzy areas into focus real quick if
FTC let it fly.
