Being a day trader myself I find it hard to believe day traders are making all this volume. With the bid and ask spread so close how are these guys making money?

What are they making 500 bucks on a 100k Block? Doesn't make sense to me.

You are correct. If it is a cash dividend, you can simply pay it and avoid the need to cover your short position, but a stock/warrant appears to be a dividend that can only be covered by covering the stock or buying that warrant from someone.
