With block trades no you dont know since it happens outside the normal channels. Some MM got a sell or buy order for 10K+ shares, what they do it either sell and at the end of the day or so enter it into the print. Steve had some things to say about this. Since If you hit the bid or ask you dont even show up on the screens. The price is what the MM paid or got for the block. So normally if you see something like a 100k trade, and the price is below the low of the day it usually means it was a sell and a higher price usually means it was a buy, since I am sure the MM wont take a loss in either condition. There were 2 block buys when the price was at 7 1/2 a few weeks ago as well, a day after that the price hit 13.
