Lots of people think that when they tell their broker to buy something , they assume he is looking out and trying to get the best price for them . You know sort of like a broker is supposed to do. <g>
However in the real world , small orders in many cases, (and I'm not saying all), are entered as market buys or sells. If your market order hits at an inconvenient time it can and usually will cost you. I think that you put limits on your orders, however a lot of people do not.

Have you ever noticed how you can't get pre opening quotes on NY. We used to have it that way, however not any more..
