Got your email..i agree with you on sony, a very reliable ls120 source (if you can believe them) stated that the sony drive will not be out in time for the x-mas season. Also did you see the nice full page j&r ad in the nyt about the free zip with the purchase of a g3 mac and the $20 rebates? good luck. btw they list 2 cpq models with zip now 4550 4540!!!

The April 6, 1998 edition of PC WEEK has an article on page 43 that includes the following sentence:

"Sony will begin shipping the HiFD drive in late June or early July,
Vella said."

Vella was identified as marketing manager for Sony's value-added products division.

Do you have any later information?

Philip, meanwhile customers are buying millions of Zip and Jaz drives. It just doesn't seem fair. Perhaps Iomega should slow down so Sony won't fall so far behind.
