Time Traveler (off topic),

re: Regarding the 16:9 aspect, present day analog TVs are going to be obsolete in less than 10 years. DTV with digital technology and aspect ratio of 16:9 are going to replace all analog TVs today. It makes a lot of sense to Time Traveler to obtain a monitor conformed to 16:9 aspect ratio, not just for DVD.

This is all true. I guess it's just a matter of how much of a premium you want to pay to get one now. When I was looking for monitors a few months back, I think Sony was the only one with a 16x9 PC monitor for sale. You might want to wait until the digital standard becomes more mature and get a second generation unit that might work better for you in the long term. For movies, I'd probably get an overhead projection unit. They've come a long way in the last few years.
