Here's the answers everyone is looking for:
Lam is not yet in the polisher market, as they have stated a number of times. Amat is just entering the market, 97 was the first full year in with system, Lam has said nothing about losing marketshare in cleaning, via Ontrak, Amat is gaining market share at the expense of IPEC, SFAM and a couple of non-public companies. Amat has no cleaning system it is currently offering. When Lam enters the market full time they will probably gain share at the same rate as Amat has been. Lead times are definately different for polishers and cleaners. The market is still mostly for stand alone polishers & cleaners, soooooo....what Amat is really shipping is a bunch of machines that comepte with the IPEC/SFAM installed base of machines. Amat has better WW service (10X probably) & support than IPEC/SFAM combined. Remember, no one has had to compete with Lam's polisher yet....what if their machine is better.....then it will be an interesting race.
