Zoltan, The Greenland ice sheet was recently cored and found to be 200,000 years old at the bottom. The coastal areas are the only place where it is possible to grow crops. The temperatures there have fluctuated over the centuries, but do not necessarily mirror the average world temperatures during that time as changing ocean currents can have a substantial impact there. Samplings worldwide have shown a global warming over the last 150 years.
