VIVUS has not given up on R&D!
They have a study of their combination suppository being presented at the up coming AUA meeting showing superior results when tested against MUSE. See the abstracts on AOL Motley Fool PFE board provided by BigKNY3.
It is impossible to"fight" the free hype and publicity that the media has given to Viagra. But all good things tend to run their course and my belief in that within a month the numbers for new RXs will level off and a lot of the PFE/Viagra magic will be gone for the momentum followers. PFE is a great company/great investment and Viagra is going to make a ton of money. But even the NEJM article by the gurus of Viagra Gold and P-N only reported 69% efficacy with 22% placebo effect. Net is 47% TRUE efficacy for the drug. This is MUCH lower then all the docs and Urologist are writing about. So the odds are those not "studying" the effect are not hearing the truth yet from their failed patients. It takes a REAL man in this media hype to stand up and say "I took Viagra and it did NOTHING for me!" but in time this be become apparent.
Jim

There is a very interesting article in the L.A. Times today for Viagra and the rest of them. If you go to latimes.com in the life & style section you might be able to read it.Anyway, this is the way men answered the query:
Would men throw away their Viagra if it caused tooth decay?NO.If it caused hair loss?NOIf it caused horns to sprout from their heads?NO
If it caused asteroids to smash into earth devastating cities but not theirs?NO He concluded that only one side effect would scare men off Viagra-death.X-users of muse said that product is horrible.
Psychologist Rex Julian Beaber put it this way:"Let'sget real here. We live in a culture where people wear handcuffs and whip each other.Anyone who thinks that a few side effects is going to stop men from seeking pleasure should have their minds examined".

DS The real problem with the topical would be controlling the dose that is absorbed. The surface of the glans varies considerably between men and certainly between uncircumcized men and circumcized. Also the glans is directly connected to the corpora spongiosum and not directly to the cavernous chambers which provide the real erection. A hard head with a soft shaft is not going to cut the mustard. A lot of ifs IMO.
