RNTK built a plant ... a small demonstration one ... here in the USA. It was on a dump, a source of methane, which could be converted to diesel fuel, etc. The dump ended up not producing sufficient methane to provide a reliable feedstock for the plant, so natural gas was piped in ... just to prove that the plant really worked. It did. But the cost of the natural gas was considerably higher than anticipated, so the plant was closed down.

Later it was sold to an Indian company ... name escapes me right now ... and disassembled and shipped to India. Its start-up there has been delayed at least once.

My impression is that RNTK did not pay for the plant in its original location ... that was paid for by the owner of the dump? But I am not positive.

Anyway, one may state that the RNTK process has been demonstrated to work on natural gas. And I'm sure that considerable development work has been done by all competitive parties since then.
