<<<Pacard-Bell claims that Windows
98 will not have much effect on the PC industries!!>>>>

Speaking of a company that does not have much effect on the industry.
It wont have much effect on Packard Bell because their machines crash no matter what os you use. Personal opinion....PB machines suck wind.
I would never ever buy another one from them. Their service is even worse.

I read and hear all sorts of contridictory reports on DOJ and MSFT! On May 9th, IHT was saying that
DOJ will not interferre with the release of Windows 98! Today, May 13th, IHT says that the DOJ is
still not sure if it will dealy the release! Furthermore, the Exec. V.P. of Pacard-Bell claims that
Windows 98 will not have much effect on the PC industries!! What is your reading??

Well I'm no expert on the inside industry stuff - just a dumb economist/econometrician sitting out here in Australia. I can't see that Windows 98 will have anything like the impact Windows 95 had - it seems to be a much smaller improvement. The potential general anti-trust case against MSFT is a new issue relative to stopping Windows 98. It could be bad for MSFT stock in the short run as the company gets tied up with dealing with the lawyers etc. In the long run if they split it up it will likely be good for the stock.
