Hmmm, a lot of food for thought.

I get lost in the arguments between: 1) "why do these other countries (China for example) get the attention?" while India is lacking in respect and 2) the arguments about India's self-sufficiency.

Does India wish to sit at the world's table to do business and converse with the world? Certainly China and a few of the other mentioned countries do desire for a stated reason of feeding their masses. (Yes, this flies in the face of other actions, but still a noble request.)

I am hearing from India, on this thread, that India wishes for respect from the world, but not much more. Does India desire the world to say "Yes, a great, wonderful, brilliant country" and then leave well enough alone?

I see the defense reasons for the nuclear move quite clearly. That is enough that I believe the sanctions will mostly be cosmetic. Now we move to the next step. India is a known nuclear power free to transact with the world. What is next? I'm still not sure what is the root request to be noticed. Why power, beyond security, why? How will it be used?
