SYCR - News and volume will be noticed tonight in my opinion. Developed upgrade for Microsoft's Windows98

CULVER CITY, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 13, 1998--Syncronys Softcorp
SYCR , a leading developer of utility software and exclusive publisher
of SFS, SmartFiles System technology, Wednesday introduced UpgradeAID
98, a new PC utility specifically designed to eliminate the anxiety of
upgrading from Windows 95 to Windows 98.

The release of UpgradeAID 98 is planned to coincide with the release of
Windows 98, as announced by Microsoft MSFT .

One of the least publicized aspects of the Windows 98 upgrade is that
once users have upgraded to Windows 98, they will not be able to simply
"switch" back to their Windows 95 installation.

In the event, for example, that an older application does not work
properly with Windows 98, or hardware incompatibilities occur, users
might need to reconstruct their systems manually, since Microsoft
provides only a time consuming Windows 98 "uninstall" option. In effect,
the Windows 98 upgrade path is a "one-way street" that puts user
productivity at some risk.

UpgradeAID 98 changes all this by allowing consumers to install Windows
98 while keeping their entire Windows 95 system completely intact.
Consumers can then safely evaluate and test Windows 98 without
jeopardizing their stable and familiar Windows 95 system.

This product is uniquely positioned as a smooth, painless, and risk-free
method to eliminate upgrade anxiety. With UpgradeAID 98, users can
easily return to Windows 95 should they encounter any problems with
Windows 98 including any system instability, or hardware or application
incompatibilities.

UpgradeAID 98 is installed before Microsoft Windows 98 Upgrade. An
intuitive upgrade wizard called SmartUpgrade steps through the entire
Windows 98 upgrade process, automatically preserving Windows 95
configuration data and system components. Users can then use a simple,
fully graphical boot manager called SmartBoot to select between Windows
98 or Windows 95.

Once the user is confident that Windows 98 is installed properly and is
functioning with existing applications and hardware, the old Windows 95
system can be quickly and safely removed, with no "traces" left behind.

Commenting on the new product, Syncronys Product Manager Steve Sussman
said: "UpgradeAID 98 will provide relief to the scores of users who are
anxious about upgrading their systems. Whereas users might have delayed
upgrading out of fear of rendering their system and/or applications
unusable, UpgradeAID 98 allows them to forge ahead, without upgrade
anxiety."

UpgradeAID 98 is the only focused upgrade assistant available. Unlike
existing boot managers or partitioning utilities, UpgradeAID 98 is
focused on a specific consumer need.

Through SFS technology, the advanced SmartFiles System technology at the
heart of new Syncronys utilities, UpgradeAID 98 enables users to switch
quickly between multiple Windows configurations without resorting to
confusing (and potentially dangerous) partitioning procedures that can
put an entire hard drive at risk. Additionally, UpgradeAID 98 conserves
disk space, because duplicate copies of applications are not required.

"UpgradeAID 98 extends our powerful SmartFiles System technology into an
exciting new area," remarked Syncronys Chief Technology Officer Mark
Skiba. "UpgradeAID 98 exemplifies our development philosophy of
producing focused tools. UpgradeAID 98 is exactly the right tool for the
right job when upgrading from Windows 95 to Windows 98."

For more information about UpgradeAID 98 and Windows upgrade issues,
users can log on to Syncronys' UpgradeAID preview site,
www.syncronys.com/upgradeaid. A preview version that works with beta
versions of Windows 98 will be available for download shortly.

UpgradeAID 98 requires a PC with Windows 95 installed, 8MB RAM, a
Windows 98 Upgrade CD (from Microsoft), 2MB of disk space for UpgradeAID
98 itself, plus approximately 200MB for Windows 98 itself (this may vary
depending on configuration).

UpgradeAID 98 will be available through major computer software
retailers. Pricing will be announced at a later date.
