Dear Mark;

Thank you for your input. I am not sure I understand the example of Jews, Buddhists, new-agers etc. If you mean that an individual may do it, I agree. However, it was a Christian group which succeeded at stopping the practice. One person is not listened to the same way as a group. There is strength in numbers. It has been argued here that it is safer to follow ones own inner voice rather than other men and women. Isn't that also listening to a man or women, yourself? The danger I see in this is that there is nothing to balance pure speculation. At least in a group there is presumably an exchange of information, which should allow education and growth.

We should not be able to force them to stop. I would not be in favor of such a law as it would violate freedom of religion. Part of my point is that no behavior can be shown as wrong apart from God. Without his moral authority it seems all we have left is opinion, which while it is true to the opinionated, it can never show with authority what is right or wrong. Sometimes moral certainty is necessary so that evil can be dealt with. This can only come from God. What do you think?
