>Any updates on the timing of the consolidation? Here's a (long) update in general: I talked to Lawrie today. It sounds like its totally out of Markatech's hands the timing of the consolidation. If I understood him correctly, Markatech's ducks are all in a row, they have done all the necessary steps, the exchange has okayed it, but now its up to the exchange to actually implement the consolidation. I don't know if that means that MKD is in the queue waiting for some manager at the VSE to punch their secret button and have the share price magically read ".26" instead of ".13", notify the market makers, etc. - I'm not sure what bureaucrat has to spring into what action. But I got he impression that Markatech is now in the position of just waiting for the VSE to say "Ok, the desk is clear, its your turn." Lawrie was very upbeat. It sounds like the exact date of the consolidation is the biggest unkown right now. The CD machines should be in place by the end of June, they are getting the residual equipment (packaging machines, color printer, etc.), and are still shooting for a early July opening shindig with as much publicity and media as possible. He invited me - it would be very cool to be there, but I'm way down here in Dallas (how bout them Stars?) He hinted at recording artists being there - if they can get Sarah McLachlan, then I'll hitchhike if I have to. :) I haven't been too happy with what's happened with share price since the last news release, but I came away from the conversation feeling reassured for now. Hopefully we'll get a news release next week concerning the CD plant. I asked about Autonet, and no surprise there - not much to be expected for the next couple of months, since all available money will be going to the CD opening. He did say that the company providing the new handhelds (TouchPC - they apparently have a web page, but I haven't checked it out yet) is partnering to market their hardware with Markatech's software. That would be nice, given that their pockets are much deeper than MKD's right now. I'm assuming that if this is the case, there will be a release at some point elaborating on the arrangement. Also, here's some background on the Epsom handhelds that were the orginal Autonet hardware (someone may have already posted this info - if so, sorry for the redundancy). Markatech's main competition also uses the Epsoms, and the city of Vancouver wasn't happy with them -don't hold up well when they get wet, which doesn't sound good with my picture of the weather in Vancouver. So that's why Markatech switched computers during the beta testing. Supposedly the TouchPC handhelds have been tested underwater for as long as a couple of weeks, removing a big roadblock. Now its just a matter of getting contracts, and hopefully TouchPC can help with that in the short term. As for TouchMaster, it sounds like most definitely the stepchild as far as marketing money goes right now. The preference of the company is to license it out to others for now, since they have no $$ for marketing it. If all goes well with the CD operation, maybe that change in a few months. I still don't expect to see much upswing until the consolidation - too many people probably lined up waiting for a post-consolidation sag before jumping in. I'd love to be wrong on that. With what they have cooking, a share price of .13 is an absolute joke right now. It may be that no one really believes a penny manufacturing company can actually pull this off. Either we are all in for a major fall, or this is going to be very fun very soon. I still feel pretty optimistic it will be the latter. Sam
