Beach --

I think BAY's a good company and can see why they'd be a buyout candidate. Is the latest rumor Nortel? I think I heard it on CNBC but can't recall the details.

Bay certainly isn't the least exciting. I'd probably give Cabletron the honors, there.

What's clear is that the telecommunications giants need the networkers and, fortunately, the networkers need them.

I'd love to see COMS turn around, b/c the minute it does, I'll be a buyer.

Later --

Pat

About a year ago I took a close look at BAY & was very disappointed. I saw no signs of life. In particular I noted a pattern of poor margins with no sign of improvement over a a long period of time. For NN to buy BAY would be 10 times the disaster that the UB purchase was because NN has also struggled a bit with margins over the years & has been unable to fix them. NEVER BUY INTO YOUR OWN WEAKNESS!
