I imagine there will be a steady stream of alternative memory prototypes "run up the flagpole" pursuing the promise of mobile computing/communication devices. I have a great interest in WindowsCE as a foundation for a whole new class of computer-like devices. I think it will be a huge market and it will require a new type of storage, IMHO.

Call the Ioptics announcement a newly planted crop,

I don't think it mentioned in that article that lead OROM architect was one of the designers of the original CD technology (or THE designer, depending on who you talk to.)

I have no opinion about commercial feasibility, but at a personal level I sure would love to see this product succeed.
