NOTHING against daw but they been saying about upcycle in semi since 1996 and did nothing with semi's did great in 1997. so i do not see them as any indicator whatesoever. regarding semi stocks amat did rally today but it was unconfirmed since most other semi's took a hit . still in cash and short a selected number of stocks including amat. if most semi stocks are doing nothing when the market and nasdac is so strong that tells me if you have shock to the market these stocks obviously will go lower. my popoint is if the nasdac gets hit a couple hundreds these things are dead meat. i like klic around 15-16, klac, around 28-32, cymi-15-17, egls around 11, lscc under 37 , veco at 25. ter around 28. in my history semi stocks always go to places that i can't believe they go. in upcycles semi get way overvalued and in downcycles they usually get way undervalued. since no good news is coming with semi's it seems until 1999 and with market very risky i see no compelling reasin to own them. wait till the nasdac gets hit the market makers will run to the hills.

R. Stephens downgraded TER, was reported before open. They had been selling the stock all week, all the world knew they were sellers for a week, I am surprised the stock still got hurt. I watch KLAC, was up all day; sold off in the end.

OT but related:

I have been looking at the oil services sector. There
is a good (active) thread following it. I was impressed
by this resource which is frequently referenced.

rgdoczzz.home.texas.net

If we had something like that for semi-equips, we would
be better off, imho.

Regards,

J
