Hal, I'm not so sure if MSFT innovated those thumb tabs. I think Corel may have invented those, but I'm not sure. I think a lot of these innovations, such as spell-check as you go, etc etc are difficult to determine who thought of what first. The applications software industry has thousands of programmers etc, and talk must be widespread of who is working on what feature.

Corel did beat MSFT to the punch with integrated html (pasting a link and having it appear as a live link, just like we can do here on SI).
