MAY 15, 1998, M2 Communications - Lucent Technologies and Comdisco have launched a joint mobile communications recovery service, Comdisco Continuity Services Europe. They highlight research which suggests that less than half of UK businesses have formal continuity plans. The new service will deliver a mobile unit to re-establish a normal communications service in the event of a communications failure. The company has also agreed a distribution agreement with Computer Telephony Integration software developers Exepos. The agreement adds three new solutions to Lucent's CTI portfolio - - Easy Dialler, Telephony Toolbox and Easy Speak. Lucent Technologies Business Communications Systems and Graham Technology hope to expand the market for GT-X call centre software with new developments which offer preformed standard applications. This should make GT-X more accessible for smaller businesses. In addition, the company has launched an 'informal call centre' solution, for use on the DEFINITY ProLogix Solutions communications system. The solution is aimed at organisations where staff are not necessarily dedicated call centre agents, and includes software providing intelligent call routing based on changing conditions in the call centre, e.g. time of day/agents available.

MAY 15, 1998, M2 Communications - Lucent Technologies today announced a third-party distribution agreement with one of the UK's leading Computer Telephony Integration (M) software developers, Exepos.

The agreement adds three new solutions to Lucent's CTI portfolio:

Easy Dialler - A CTI product delivering direct connection between the telephone and the PC. Screen pops (sub screens of information relevant to the last key pressed) show inbound call details, while outbound calls can be made from one of four on-screen phone books with the click of a mouse. Easy Dialler telephony enables and integrates with Windows, applications.

Telephony Toolbox - Telephony enables existing database applications, creating a simple TAPI (Telephony Applications Program Interface) or TSAPI (Telephony Services Applications Program Interface) compliant dialler within minutes. These open architecture CTI interfaces enable software developers to produce applications which integrate two or more devices, such as a computer and PBX.

Easy Speak - a leading call centre CTI solution supporting power dialling, automatic call answering, call scripting and integration.

"This agreement expands Lucent's CTI offering and fits neatly into our existing PassageWay environment," said Lucent Technologies Business Communications Systems (BCS) UK managing director Ron Griffiths. "While we will continue to research and develop CTI technologies at Bell Labs, we are always looking to partner with companies such as Exepos who are creating world-class products. Exepos has earned a reputation for producing innovative and exciting CTI solutions and we expect these new additions to our portfolio to have a significant effect on sales."

Exepos is based in High Wycombe and employs a creative team of software engineers. As well as developing CTI solutions, the company produces high-value financial software for a number of clients including Asda, Woolworths and BHS.

"We have been in discussion with Lucent for the past six months and are delighted that one of the world's leading telecoms companies, who are in the forefront of CTI development are partnering with us," said Exepos sales and marketing director Christine Stevens. "We are undertaking a training programme for around 40 Lucent sales people and are looking forward to supporting both the direct and indirect sales channels!"

With Farnborough as its head office in the UK, Lucent Technologies BCS develops, manufactures, markets and services advanced voice, data and multimedia communications solutions, including call centres, private branch exchanges, key systems, structured cabling and messaging systems for businesses worldwide.
