<<Yet have analysts attributed *any* value to the software side of the
business? >>

Soup,

I hope Jobs will say the same thing as IBM's CEO has mentioned as follows:

Actually, it's only a matter of forseeable time. The revenue/net will
significantly increase within months. iMac will arrive just in time
when Microsoft is in anti-trust troubles which brings Federal/states
to fight with its monopoly and to boost the possibility of more states
actions on buying iMac for schools.

HWP's disappointed quarterly result will drive its stock lower
tomorrow. However, HWP's stock has been up 33% in one week from low
60's to low 80's without any significant news. It seems that street's
analysts love this stock no matter how the outcome will be. I have
observed HWP for a long time and hardly see it could meet street's
expectations but the price still hangs in around 60's - 70's. My
explanations on this situation are:

- Mutual funds managers have committed and invested too much in HWP,
conspiracy theory is a possibility;
- Not enough good stocks in computer hardware group. Some conservative
managers will pick HWP rather than Dell, Gateway, or compaq.

Hope Apple will be like HWP some day.

Phil
