The only way calls will get assigned is if there is a sudden dividend, tender offer, or the like. Call price=strike-exercise+interest(on strike to expir)-dividend+vol.

Ben, re:How many times have you been assigned with more than three months left to go before expiry? Your question may not be in context with related posts. In post siliconinvestor.com you state: In practical terms, you have until 4PM on the third Friday of Aug. Anything else, (like you getting 'assigned' for someone would wants to exercise their contracts) is in the league with being hit by a comet.. This is a dangerous, erroneous statement for such a broad audience. My attempt is to ensure that others (including Mr Corey) are not under false security regarding some "final hour." In answer to your above question, I have been assigned many times prior to expiration day -- although I don't recall an occasion that was three months prior.
