Charles: There is no such thing as bad news. For example, AMAT which is a very well run company by straight shooter types announced that eps and revenues would drop by a third or more for at least the next two quarters and the stock rose 1 9/16. Go figure. The other day did a stock screen for companies with eps down 30+% year to year and stock price up 30+% and there were a zillion or so. Was too scared to up the number to 40 or 50%.
The current market may be like the old soviet union- rotten to the core- but the professionals didn't see that fall coming either since they had so much invested in its staying around.

<Will anything shake up the U.S. market?>

Maybe some of the following stories from the Drudge report will cause angst. The Prez was unaware until recently that all Oval Office activity is video recorded by the secret service and that Ken Starr has subpeoned all tapes between 11/13/95 and 1/16/98. Holy Jerry Springer!!!!

Second story about China getting illegal technology (I think Loral)
LOR might be a good short. If the NY Times story can send ENMD to 86 from 12 what will it do to LOR?
