Lucretius, you are REALLY getting boring singing the same song since DELL hit 77. Do yourself a favor, buy 1 share of DELL and then you can go over to the BEAR THREAD and tell them how stupid they are.. anybody who shorts anything(gold, pork bellies, DELL, etc.) against THE TREND....IS stupid. You know, one day I might short DELL too, but guess what? Not yet... BTW, saw where gold went down again. It'll be a great buy @ $150. <GGG>

I can't wait till CPQ gets its build to order bus up and running, it should be a fun ride back down. Can anyone say DELL in '98 = MU in '95 :) (ggg)

Compaq has been trying since April 1997 to get its BTO "bus" up and running. Last fall they stuffed the channel to give the illusion of success. HP has been buying market share for months and trying to give the illusion that they had a better mouse-trap. They waited until two days from earnings to warn. So what happened to the sales these guys had in their business plan that they didn't get? Do you think Micron got them? Or Gateway?

"can't wait..." This goes a bit beyond warnings or advice. You appear to look forward to seeing Dell investors get hurt. I assume that seeing others in pain is not the way you get off. Is other's success too much for you to handle? I hate to see you doing this to yourself. Maybe you should leave the room until you get your temper back under control.

LT,

I sat on the sidelines for about 18 months watching DELL go up, all the while thinking it was too expensive. During that time I've seen at least a dozen DELL bears come and go, all stating the same case -- and all of them have either publicly converted or just disappeared.

I finally gave up and went long in March. I thought I was a genius the first day, as I was up 5 points. The next day INTC warned and I gave it all back. Then MOT warned, and I gave up even more. Suddenly I didn't look too smart (at least according to my wife).

The long and the short of it is I'm now up about 33% and feeling pretty good (at least for now). BTW, I bought CSCO, MSFT & INTC the same way (watched 'em go up and up and finally bought, even though I thought they were waaayyy too expensive). Well, I've got a double on CSCO, a triple on MSFT, and a quad on INTC.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that bottom line is that a stock is worth what somebody else is willing to pay for it. If you buy dominant companies that have proven great management that are growing revenues and earnings and you'll seldom go wrong. After watching and studying DELL for 18 months I concluded that DELL is one of those companies. (I may be slow, but I aint stupid <vbg>)

FWIW & Regards, Ross
