Narotham, HWP coupled with the MSFT anti-trust filing probably means some pain will be inflicted tomorrow. Also, these is some economic data due in the morning. I forget what.

Would be a good day for ASND management to pull something out of the bag, like a new contract, don't you think?

Any impact of HWP warning tomorrow ?
Stock down over 7 after hours.

Ouch. I have that affecting SGI, IBM (potentially), NCR, SQNT, SUNW, TAN, UIS, MUEI, GTW, CPQ/DEC, AAPL, and of course DELL (not).

Was it a printer warning or PC's too? That would make a big difference. Printers would affect various secondary chipmakers and potentially circuit board manufacturers like JBL, computers would wreak havoc in the market tomorrow...

A correction always needs a spark -- it will be funny to see the market take off about two weeks from now with all the scared sellers holding on the sidelines...

Paranoia to euphoria. We have paranoia, just like that.

Hewlett-Packard results to be below expectations
PALO ALTO, Calif., May 13 (Reuters) - Hewlett Packard Co. (HWP - news) said on Wednesday that earnings for its fiscal second quarter, which ended April 30, will be below expectations.
The company said that earnings are expected to be about 65 cents per share versus 75 cents per share in the same period last year when it reported net earnings of $784 million.

''While we did achieve good revenue and order growth this quarter, we are disappointed that our early calculations show earnings per share coming in well short of expectations,'' Hewlett-Packard Chairman Lewis Platt said in a statement.

The Palo Alto-based company said its product mix, as well as pricing pressures in the PC business, were significant factors in its results, which will be released on Friday.

Hewlett-Packard also said economic weakness in Asia affected a number of its businesses -- particularly measurement systems, whose products typically have higher gross margins.

The expected earnings include the impact of previously announced printer-manufacturing consolidations in North America, effects associated with the acquisition of Heartstream, Inc. and other charges.

I presume you mean HWP (-7 after hours)?

Just when you thought it was safe to get in the water...
I've been kicking myself for not jumping on HWP when it was sitting there at 60, I thought about buying it and passed.
It looked so dead.
Now its been to 75 in a week or so.

I think it may be shrugged off, because HP is such a fine
company, great long term prospects, etc. Not exactly a shot out of the blue, PC sales down. However I think the market was expecting HPs day in the sun - it was a part of the group orgie upgrade (based on "multiple expansion" effects) between IBM, HWP, and DELL, although it got a run up from 60 prior to that.
