HP Comments On Second-Quarter Performance

biz.yahoo.com

''While we did achieve good revenue and order growth this quarter, we are disappointed that our early calculations show earnings per share coming in well short of expectations,'' said Lewis E. Platt, HP chairman, president and chief executive officer.

The company said that earnings are expected to be approximately 65 cents per share. The company earned 75 cents per share in the same period last year.

.....Final results will be announced Friday, May 15, at 5:00 a.m. Pacific Daylight Time.

Possible government penalties to punish the Evil Empire of Microsoft:

Charge #1 - MSFT gives away software to pressure competitors.
Penalty - Force them to raise prices.

Charge #2 - MSFT is a monopoly and gouges consumers.
Penalty - Force them to lower prices.

Charge #3 - MSFT is too successful.
Penalty - Regulate and control them to bail out inept competitors.

Charge #4 - MSFT's products are bloated, buggy garbage.
Penalty - Force them to improve and innovate.

Charge #5 - MSFT's products are too dominant.
Penalty - Stop them from improving and innovating.

The list could go on but why bother. After all, competition is good unless you're too good at competing. Then you must be forced to change the way you do business. That's free enterprise, that's the American way.

If the DOJ doesn't stop Win98 from shipping, than they have wasted a huge amount of taxpayers
dollars( whats new) and time. What, they are going to let Win98 go out for a few months, than
demand that the icon be taken off after thousands are already shipped? Only lawyers and government
can come up with something that idiotic.

No this time it won't be little tinkering like that but breaking up MSFT. Could be good for the shareholders long-term.
