Art, services makes up a much larger part of the business(almost 33%), along with PC's, servers and mainframes than the other areas Gerstner mentioned for growth. He also mentioned after last Q that robust growth in services couldn't be sustained. Maybe it is possible for IBM to turn it around and achieve double growth in upcoming quarters. My concern would be, and he did mention this, the PC area. If HP missed the number that badly due to PC business(they are also diversified in their product line), how much will this off set growth in other areas? Also, if the rumors are true and mainframe demand is tailing off, this could be a huge problem. I know that one of the recent upgrades was do to strong demand for mainframes, and it may be that was premature. Time will tell, good luck with your investments.....
