my comment re the amount of money in private hands, thats being set free, was batty, iow not based on any hard facts. However, Japanese ARE savers, even more so than Germans. Changing the situation in Japan would involve changing their mentality in this respect, and in many others as well.

So we agree its a process.

Have you noticed the drop in PRC exports? The G7 are changing their dinner menu for this wekend I hope.

Maybe something of a start over there.

BTW, Bloomberg this morning reports that Suharto is considering to step down. This would give the region a major boost I think.
