Major difference I think was that Geron found the sequence for telomerase, an enzyme involved in determining the telomere length in dividing cells. The length has something to do with cell longevity. This was thought to affect the longevity of the individual. However no mechanism has been found and no real application is envisioned. These are my recollections, please clarify if I am wrong. Enmd on the other hand has compound that targets a specific site of tumor growth and disrupts the growth and eliminates the tumor. It strikes the achilles heal of the tumor.
