This is a rare event for a company to dismiss their independent auditor, particularly if the auditors have a history with the company. It has been my experience that the shareholder can take this as a negative. Informix at least needs to let the shareholders know this is not because of a difference in opinion related to the application of GAAP accounting standards. Better yet, a note like this should come from the independent accounting company. If this dismissal can be interpreted as issues surrounding the application of GAAP, this event would be taken as bad news and damage the company's credibility even though the disagreement may not be related to what would be considered "aggressive" accounting practices. I do hope Bob F manages to come up with some details on this one.
