There are plenty of ways to make money from bashing a stock. The most obvious is the "basher" is keeping the price low until another stock has taken a ride up so as not to jump too soon. A second way is for pay from a market maker or other big investor also for the purpose of keeping the price down while the market maker or investor can accumulate a large position. I have seen what appear to be coordinated raids to rattle shareholders and pick up cheap shares for the raiders. I'm sure there are many more than these!!
