So why is this vindictive zeal and "pile-on" "me-too" attitude towards one of the greatest companies?

Because there are a whole lot of disgruntled Mac etc people out there who can't lose gracefully, and still harbor grudges.

MSFT is up and latest release shows that states have little grasp of the elements of the interface between the software and box maker. The case at worst is a simple icon change for MSFT and some changes in contract if they elect to take the easy way. But I think on principal they will fight this to the end and win with a slam dunk. This is a joke and when the details are fully released it will prove highly anticlimactic.
