Frank, Here's a bit of an update on those HP graphics slots you inquired about a few weeks ago. (Sorry if I've missed anything since then, I've been out on vacation and traveling. I'll try to catch up over the weekend.)

ATI graphics acceleration selected by Hewlett Packard Company for new HP Vectra VE corporate PC and HP Brio business PC systems
RAGEO and RAGEO PRO TURBO accelerators the ideal combination of 3D/2D/video acceleration for new HP systems Toronto, Canada, May 27, 1998: ATI Technologies Inc. (TSE:ATY) today announced that its RAGE graphics accelerator chips, including the RAGE PRO TURBO, will provide the graphics and multimedia functionality for Hewlett-Packard Company's new HP Vectra VE corporate PC and the complete range of new HP Brio PC 8500 Series business systems. ATI's RAGE PRO TURBO chip offers state-of-the-art corporate IT management functionality, as well as leading-edge 3D/2D and video acceleration for all business applications, resulting in the most advanced graphics-enabled PC systems currently available for corporate use. The new HP Brio PC 8500 series includes the 8511 and, for advanced business applications, the 8531 and 8532 NT. All three models use ATI's RAGE PRO TURBO accelerator, the ideal partner for the new Intel 440BX chipset, also featured on the newly introduced HP Brio systems, along with the Intel 350MHz and 400MHz Pentium IIƒ processors. HP Brio PCs offer business users HP's lowest prices on the latest technology, with industry-leading quality and reliability.
The HP Vectra VE PC is the new entry-level addition to the value-priced, managed HP Vectra VE line, and ships with an integrated ATI RAGE IIC AGP chip with 2MB memory. The HP Vectra VE is based on the new Intel Celeronƒ 266 MHz processor and also comes with the Intel 440EX AGPchipset. The HP Vectra VE PC offers corporate customers a highly reliable, value-priced managed corporate PC.
"ATI's RAGE accelerators have enabled us to offer top-performing systems with industry-leading graphics components for corporate and business users at a full range of price points," said Achim Kuttler, Product Marketing Manager of HP's Commercial Desktop Computing Division. "ATI's range of AGP graphics accelerators is ideally-suited to meet the business multimedia requirements of our customers, no matter whether they chose the HP Vectra VE PC or a model from the HP Brio PC 8500 Series."
"ATI has been very privileged to partner with Hewlett-Packard on a number of new product launches during the past few weeks, including the consumer and notebook PC markets," said Ed Grondahl, vice president of product marketing, ATI Technologies Inc. "This most recent decision by HP to use ATI RAGE accelerators in the new Vectra VE corporate PC, and throughout the HP Brio PC 8500 Series, confirms the leadership role of ATI in driving the multimedia revolution in all business computing."
ATI's RAGE PRO TURBO, the most complete AGP controller on the market ATI is the market leader in supplying full AGP solutions and provides the complete AGP 2X specification, including SideBand Addressing (SBA), Pipelining and AGP texturing. ATI's AGP solutions can handle with ease the massive amounts of visual data and rich 3D and video applications AGP makes possible. AGP dramatically increases the amount of textures that can be displayed on a monitor screen because it enables the use of main system memory for 3D, rather than only the limited memory of a graphics controller.
ATI's RAGE PRO TURBO AGP chip, the fastest integrated graphics controller on the market today, produces the highest level of realism currently possible in 3D and 2D rendering for corporate users and business applications. It enables high-performance graphics on all Pentium II systems with the 440BX and 440LX AGP chipset.
For the corporate end user, the RAGE PRO TURBO chip and ATI's driver software delivers rock-solid reliability and robust delivery of mission critical business applications. ATI's graphics accelerators support corporate network manageability tools such as DMI, (Desktop Management Interface), which permit management of individual PCs and ATI graphics controllers from a central network point, delivering great time and cost savings to the end user as well as seamless interoperability, primary concerns for all corporate system administrators. ATI also supports network scalability, because only one driver is required to bridge all network users with an ATI graphics subsystem in a corporate environment, including both low and high-end PCs. In addition, all ATI display drivers are fully Microsoft certified for Windows 95 and NT, and support the PC 98 design specification.
The selection of ATI by HP for the Vectra VE PC is the latest in a series of design wins for the RAGE PRO TURBO in corporate systems, where high performance 3D, fast 2D and video acceleration applications are quickly becoming a standard business requirement. ATI's accelerator products empower corporate users to develop state-of-the-art 3D imaging, corporate Intranet systems and business-winning presentations.
ATI's RAGE IIC, the best 2D, 3D and video acceleration for the price The RAGEO IIC AGP graphics accelerator is a low-cost 2D, 3D and video chip, ideal for cost-sensitive AGP corporate systems. It provides OEMs with a rapid transition route to 3D- and AGP-enabled business PCs and enables 3D business applications. The RAGE IIC is fully compliant with Microsoft's PC '98 specification.
