(NASDAQ:ITEC), pioneer in the development of high-quality digital imaging solutions, today announced the release of the first of its new generation of LaserImage(R) Adobe(R) PostScript(R) digital printer controllers. This LaserImage 4000 controller is being incorporated into Korean peripheral manufacturer Elex Tech's Laser Station 2460 monochrome printer. The Engineering division of ITEC, formerly know as PCPI Technologies, developed the LaserImage family of controllers for the mid-range color and monochrome printer market. "This is the first ITEC product developed and fully localized for an Asia Pacific market," said Brian Bonar, chief executive officer of Imaging Technologies. "It is just one of a range of next generation Adobe PostScript controllers we anticipate will be released this year." "This product release represents a number of firsts for ITEC," said Joe Pfeuffer, vice president of Engineering. "This is our first Adobe PostScript controller which incorporates our new generation off-the-shelf NEC VR4300-based design. It is our first controller to utilize XLI Image Enhancement, which can boost overall image resolution from 600 dpi to 1200 dpi on a standard 600 dpi engine. It is also our first product to incorporate double byte technology, which is needed to support Hangul, the Korean alphabet, Kanji and other Asian-language characters." Elex Tech's Laser Station 2460 monochrome printer is the newest line of digital printers developed by Elex Tech and localized for the Korean office market. The Laser Station 2460 features 24 page per minute output and can print at up to 1200 dpi resolution. It also provides full support for Hangul and Korean printer emulations. The Laser Station 2460 will immediately begin shipping throughout Korea, selling for approximately US $3500. Elex Tech is one of Korea's leading manufacturers of computer peripherals.
