so no suit filed today.....willing to talk and negotiate further.
For those of us who have been waiting to buy more, is now the time to get in?
Anyone have any thoughts as to what this will lead to? Seems like pretty good news.
TIA

While we may be speculating what these "major concessions" are, one issue is now perfectly clear. MSFT, going forward, will be under total scrutiny. Having been burnt once, I doubted if the DOJ will agree to another consent decree which MSFT can weasel out of later.

Now the question is, without its monopolistic power, can MSFT maintain its growth rate, and more importantly, its industry leading profit margins? What happens to MSFT's very lofty valuation?

The ride to the top is a long and arduous task. To stay at the top, competitors will do anything to see you dethroned...Since not one of these competitors have the tools nor brain power, they are resorting to this level of foolishness with the gov't....Surely I hope they can come up with something more clever than this...Bring it On...

Citizen Gates

This is New:
"The government is also concerned the new combination gives Microsoft control of crucial access points to the Internet, allowing the company to set up a virtual toll booth on the information highway. ...

The (Washington) Post also reported that the Justice Department has acquired a record of Gates' e-mail messages and will offer them as potent evidence in the case, though it did not disclose what those messages allegedly say. " Mercury News

Setting up a "virtual toll booth on the information highway"? -Only in America.

Actual "potent" evidence of possible direct involvement by Gates in rigging the market? -This is getting personal. Now, we've got a motivated seller.

Lets hope Bill Gates, as a man of integrety, does not sell out too much of the company's prospects and its share holders interests to save his butt from past indiscretions.

PS: Don't corporate officers usually cary some kind of liability or malpractice insurance?
