Tom, your comment about hedging implies that you are a long-term holder of HWP. If that is the case, you are almost assuredly in the black on your investment. Had this mania driven market not pushed HWP into the $80s in the last couple days (in spite of known problems in Asia and the PC market), my guess is you wouldn't be complaining about owning it in the low $70s.

Other than having seen a very brief opportunity to cash in above $80, how are you harmed? Management didn't tell analysts to upgrade it a few days ago (in fact, the upgrades tell me that no one knew how short earnings would fall - many investors complain that companies tell "the Street" more than they tell the public) and they certainly hadn't painted a rosy picture of the quarter's prospects.

You should be thankful that the Street was overly optimistic. If they were not, we'd be at $60 instead.

Good luck with your investment and remember, revenue growth is still strong and if not for the benefits of diversification of products and markets, as well as good management, you could have seen a ZERO profit quarter like CPQ shareholders saw.

Regards,
Bob
