Dear Alpha and Omega;;greetings in the Lord. Praise His Holy name. Thank you and may God bless you.. If you are of the Pentecostal faith where tithing is preached regularly, like I am, however I have also been Methodist, Episcopal,Presbyterian; then I will make the observation that even in churches, giving is poorly taught and I feel people must be taught to be givers. For that same reason I am teaching my daughter of 7 years of age to be a giver. Malachi 3:10 is bookmarked in every preachers bible " bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse that there may be meat in my house and prove me now herewith saith the Lord of Hosts, if I will not open the windows of heaven and pour you out a blessing that there shall not be enough room to receive it ". Of course it is always preceded, by shall a man rob God. II Cor 2:8 Wherefore I beseech you that ye would confirm your love toward him vs 9 for to this end did I write that might know the PROOF of you, whether ye be obedient in all things. Why.. lest Satan should get an advantage of us, for we are ignorant of his devices.. Mal 3:11-- "And I shall rebuke the devourer for your sakes". The proof of God therefore is in obedience in all things. Never in scripture is not tithing ONLY mentioned as a prerequisite of punishment. Lack of obedience in all things , hast to, surely, must precede, punishment. Misplaced attitudes, heart matters, relationship matters will precede punishment. Knowing that we should rightly divide the word of God for ourselves, for the enemy can and will deceive us if given the opportunity. Study ourselves, being not double minded but firmly established , faith releasing, and salvation sure. The whole area of giving is one where every Christian should search the scriptures and seek guidance with prayer. Monetary giving is only one small area of giving. There are thousands of other areas where one may give of themselves. And, your wonderful post for our benefit is a very good example.... In Christ.. gregor
