>>Try Alt-(left and right arrow keys)

No, don't try that. Those are keyboard equivalents of the browser Back and Forward buttons. They have nothing to do with the Previous and Next links unless they happen to be the immediately preceding or following message respectively, which would mean that you've already seen them.

In other words, if they give the appearance of simulating the Previous and Next links, it's purely coincidence.

Hi Mang,

<<Brad, are the stock quotes on every page real-time or delayed ??>>

Allow me to address your question, Mang. I'm sure that if I am mistaken, any number of kind souls on this thread will be glad to correct me. <ggg>

Real time quote services are typically fee based although most online brokers provide them without charge for their clients. My experiences with free real time sites on the web (other than my brokerage's site) has not been positive, given the great delays in response due to excessive server traffic.

Maybe one day, for members, real time quotes might be possible on SI, but I have no idea if that's being considered or would be possible. It would be kewl to be able to link directly to one's online broker, and perhaps users could select from various brokerages who pay SI for the privilege of having their services offered right on the site. ("Select your real time quote provider and enter your brokerage account here" via an applet or whatever.) This would be a convenience for members, as well as an indirect form of advertisement for the brokerage houses and a source of additional revenue for SI.

Now, don't get me wrong, I think we are spoiled rotten as it is on SI, and I personally am very pleased with the site, and all that is being done on a daily basis to provide users with more features and conveniences. To me, this would not be a high priority addition to the site, but might possibly be something to consider in the future.

In any case, I've copied the following paragraph from the bottom of the SI portfolio quotes page for you:

<<Quotes are provided by North American Quotations and are delayed 15 minutes for Nasdaq, 20 minutes otherwise. Data and information is provided for informational purposes only, and is not intended for trading purposes. Silicon Investor shall not be liable for any errors or delays in the content, or for any actions taken in reliance thereon. Just what do you people expect anyway?? I'm only one man!! ONE MAN FOR GOD'S SAKE!! Brad this! Brad that!! Search engines! Servers! Glitches! Hackers! GIMME GIMME GIMME!! "He flamed me!! Waaaaa!!" "Stop this guy from spamming, Brad!!!" Oh when will it end? Peace! I want peace! Peace and quiet! Thank you. Thankyouverymuch.>>

Ok, so it's not exactly verbatim... but who'd have noticed anyway?!?!? :)

Happy Investing to You,
V.
