Have you talked to MS about this? Sounds odd.

My IE would not allow Netscape to be downloaded onto an NT platform.

Microsoft is just helping you by limiting your choices to those that are known to be compatible with their future plans. Hey, 3% of us have a MAC which can download Netscape, that proves MSFT is not a monopoly; I've read it right here on this thread.
