No kidding! You guys were talking about this possibility months ago! HP, gaining market share thru pricing actions subsidized by their other business units. Remember the Reseller article that said
Dell's pricing advantage has all but disappeared? HP was noted as undercutting Dell on some major accounts. A testament to the success of BTO they claimed! We surmised that these guys were taking a bath to get business from dell and that their business models would not allow them to sustain this type of pricing action without suffering the consequences. Lo and behold, first CPQ (duh) and now HWP (duh again).

And how valuable are analysts these days....

More surprising than H-P's shortfall, then, is the fact
that no Wall Street analyst did the work to see
the writing on the wall. The low estimate for the
quarter was just $0.73 per share. Given that there are 25
highly paid professionals covering this
company, that's disappointing but, sadly, hardly shocking.

Basically a bunch of lazy lemmings. Those guys would be far more accurate if they read this thread<VBG>

Jim,

"However, we know that DELL has already stated that it just is not that way"

I heard that too. but please confirm: When was it said? and who said it? at what situation? (Analysts' meeting?)

Thanks,
