pat--

DELL wont have the problems these companies have. HWPs problem are more related to management that is sh_tty than this aweful, horrible price war and asia (yeah, like millions of indonesians are screaming for a hewlett packard computer).

the reason growth is anemic at these companies is because they cant compete. so the only thing left is for them to cut costs, which should have been done in the first place.

an example...the low end machines at BBuy right now, sub-1k market. CPQ and HWP both have entries, at the same price, but CPQs machine is based on a K6, while HWPs uses the older pentium chip. plus, while neither of the machines are what i would call expandable, CPQs is a little more so than HWPs, and it has a better design than the HWP box. the problem isnt so much that industry is slowing (it is), the real problem is that these bloated dinos like HWP arent keeping up. even when they have a fantastic product, like their new notebooks, they cant get them to market, and they wont deliver them at a good price.

HWP just needs new management. kind of like MU, though i doubt it would change MUs prospects that much.

BTW-- what is the scorecard with MU now. have they unloaded all the MUEI stock? is lehi still an empty husk?

good luck to all,
trey

Pat, IBM is a joke. The more Lou the Lip spins his tall tales, the more the suckers buy the stock. But, as with MU, there is no there, there. And, unlike MU, we have a stock that has a long absolute price fall before it gets anywhere near fair value.

Some time soon after the Dell eps reignites the bubble temporarily will be the best time to buy puts for this second leg of the tech bear market. Good luck, MB
