On many multi media applications the Celeron (Mendocino) will be faster, or equivalent to the pentium II.

On most, it does not. You don't go buy a car and pay more if it looks good at the surface? Don't you? So this car (Celeron) you buy only beats the others (K6) when coasting downhill. This is because the gears stuck in neutral and have no brakes.

The Celeron is for the Basic PC for Web browsing and games (A cheaper better alternative to the K6-2).

Stocky,

K6 is cheaper and does more than what you stated. I am not sure why why kept comparing that ugly stick with K6-2. So stop confusion yourself and get some good coffee.
