The old (P133-based) systems retail for around $8K a pop. The new ones that Sony is manufacturing (P233II-based) are supposed to be "under $5K".

Keep in mind that the initial target for these units is mobile and industrial workers, not consumers. $5K or more in that setting isn't much if the productivity payoff is there.

Looks like close to 10k fully outfitted. Which is reasonable considered the state of the art, and small initial market, when Bill Gates dream of one on every person comes true maybe they will be a little cheaper.
